Nick Leddy

Drafted 16th overall in 2019, Nick Leddy is a veteran defenseman that the Edmonton Oilers could pursue. He would likely be placed on the last pair, but adding him to the line-up would add lot experience to this defensive core.

Leddy has played 851 regular season games over 12 seasons. On top of the regular season games he also has played in 130 playoff games. With those 130 playoff games he won the Stanley Cup in 2013 with the Chicago Blackhawks.

For the St. Louis Blues this season Leddy played on the top pair with Colton Parayko. The Blues made it to the second round of the playoffs where they were eliminated by the Colorado Avalanche. In the payoffs this past year he averaged 21:31 TOI. This was about the same amount he averaged during the regular season.

If the Edmonton Oilers are unable to re-sign and bring back Brett Kulak, Nick Leddy would be a player that you could put in his spot. He also could be brought in if Duncan Keith decides to retire this offseason.

I think there will be a lot of other teams in the hunt for Leddy, so the price/term for him may get a bit too high for the Edmonton Oilers. If Ken Holland can bring in Leddy for around $2.5 million for 3 years, this could be a very helpful player for the Edmonton Oilers moving forward.
