Now that the Edmonton Oilers offseason has started the Oilers management team need to start looking a moves to be done this offseason.

One of the areas that need to be looked at is the signing of free agents. The Edmonton Oilers are going to have a couple holes in their line-up with other players leaving via free agency or trade. We already have seen Mikko Koskinen sign for a team in Europe. On top of him there is 7 UFA’s and 3 RFA’s that will need new contracts if they want to stay with the Edmonton Oilers.

There is a group of players that the Edmonton Oilers will likely not be re-signing. Those include Archibald, Sceviour, Turris, Brassard and Russell. These players won’t be missed by the team as they didn’t play very much in the playoffs or end of season run.

On the flip side of that coin there are players that the Edmonton Oilers are going to try and keep in the line-up for next season. These include Kulak, Puljujarvi, Yamamoto, McLeod and Kane. It will be near impossible to get everyone signed while staying under the salary cap so some players need to be moved to get them to fit.

Since there is more players going out than coming in, the Edmonton Oilers will need to sign some UFA’s from outside of their organization. I have put together a list of 5 pending unrestricted free agents that I think the Edmonton Oilers should pursue.
