Edmonton Oilers Vs Los Angeles Kings- Game 6 Pre-Game
The Edmonton Oilers look to fight off elimination tonight as they take on the Los Angeles Kings tonight at Crypto.com Arena.
After coming out flat for the first 40 mins in game 5, the Edmonton Oilers came to play in the 3rd period. The Oilers got worked over in the first and were outshot 16-5. As a team the Edmonton Oilers need to come out and start better.
Even in the games the Oilers have won in this series they had a bad start and Mike Smith has had to be sharp early in these games. The fact that you need him to make so many saves to start a game isn’t good, as this is likely to tire him out as the game goes on.
The team that scores the first goal as won every game this series. This is the reason the Oilers are behind, with their terrible starts they have been luck to score the first goal twice. When the Kings are ahead they can lock down the natural zone. If they are behind they need to open up, that is why both Edmonton Oiler victories were blow outs. The Kings game benefits them when they have the lead.
I think we will know the outcome of this game after the first 10 minutes. If the Oilers are playing good and not getting caved in, the Oilers will win. If it is like any of the previous 5 games this series and the Edmonton Oilers can’t get anything going, they will lose.
Darnell Nurse Suspension
The Edmonton Oilers will be without their number 1 defenseman tonight as Darnell Nurse has been suspended for head-butting Los Angeles Kings Phillip Danault. This play by Darnell was a completely selfish move. There was no reason for him to have this reaction and it was completely made from anger.
I see now reason as to why Nurse thought throwing a head-butt was a good idea, but it will cost him a spot in the line-up in what is the most important game of the Edmonton Oilers season so far.
They will just bring in Russell to play with Barrie and move up Kulak to play with Ceci. They could have also went with 7 dman and 11 forwards. Put Broberg in the lineup and take out Derek Ryan. Doing this would have allowed you to double shift McDavid or Draisaitl in this important game.
