The Edmonton Oilers look to keep the good times rolling, after a 6-0 win, tonight as they take on the Los Angeles Kings in game 3 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

The Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday played a near perfect game against the Los Angeles Kings. It showed not only in the possession numbers, but also on the score board. Not allowing the Kings to score a goal an having the Oilers score 4 5v5 goals is a good look.

In game one the Edmonton Oilers were dominated at even strength as they allowed 4 and only scored one. The fact that game 2 was the opposite is a sign that the Oilers are the better team. In the first game I thought the Edmonton Oilers played an average game and the result showed that.

Keep Throwing The Body

In game 2 the Edmonton Oilers as a team had 48 hits with Zach Kassian leading the way with 6 hits. The Kings have a smaller and younger defensive core, so if the the Edmonton Oilers forwards keep finishing check they will start making mistakes.

We already started to see that in game 2. The defenseman and trying to make quick plays. If they start making the quickest play they usually are not making the best play. Over the course of a game eventually they will make a very costly error.

Special Teams

So far in this series the Los Angeles Kings have been terrible on the special teams. They are 0-8 on the powerplay and are 4-8 while on the penalty kill. It will be nearly impossible for LA to win this series if these numbers don’t get better.

The Kings allowing 2 goals each game on the powerplay is very hard to overcome. On the opposite side of thing if the Oilers can score 2 powerplay goals a night all they have to do is break even at 5v5 and its an easy win overnight.
