The Edmonton Oilers roll into Winnipeg looking to push their current winning streak to 5 games. They also look to continue to keep Jay Woodcroft to zero NHL losses. This will not be an easy task as the Winnipeg Jets have had the Edmonton Oilers number the last little while. The most memorable is being swept in the playoffs last year.

With this recent winning streak the Oilers have found themselves 3rd place in the division. They are 3 points behind the Vegas Golden Knights with 2 games in hand. They are also only 5 point behind the first place Calgary Flames.

These 3 teams are the teams I can see in a battle for the Pacific Division. Now that the Oilers are back to playing good they are back in the hunt.

This makes every game the rest of the way really important. The Oilers can’t afford to go on another long losing streak.

Edmonton Oilers Are Rolling

The good news is right now the Edmonton Oilers is everything is going good for them right now. The issues from their losing streak seem to be a thing of the past.

Goaltending has been steady and reliable. Depth scoring has been very good in comparison. Penalty kill has improved. The only part of the game that really needs to pick up is the powerplay.

After starting the season on a historical rate the powerplay is now struggling. If the Oilers can get the powerplay going again that would greatly improve their overall team.

For tonight’s game there is going to be a couple changes from last game. Mikko Koskinen will be getting the start and someone is going to have to replace and injured Jesse Puljujarvi, who is out 3-4 weeks with a lower body injury.
