After a solid performance last night against the San Jose Sharks the Edmonton Oilers are back in action tonight. They will take on the Los Angeles Kings at Crypto.com Arena. The Oilers are the second hottest team right now in the Pacific Division having gone 7-2-1 in their last 10. The only team better has been the Calgary Flames who have gone 8-2-0.

In their last 10 games the Los Angeles Kings have gone 5-3-2. That being said they haven’t played a game since February 2nd. In that game they beat the Detroit Red Wings 5-3. The last meeting between these two team the Oilers were just at the beginning of their terrible December run. It was the second loss in a 6 game losing streak.

The last game on December 5th, the Edmonton Oilers lost 5-1. At the time it was the worst game they played all season by a large margin. After that game there was many more poorly played games, but I feel like the game against the Kings was the start of it all.

The Edmonton Oilers need to have the opposite thing happen after this game. They need to win this game and they need to keep their current hot streak going. If they win tonight they will jump into a tie with LA for the 3rd spot in the Pacific Division. It has been a while since the Edmonton Oilers have held onto a playoff spot.

Tonight’s game will not be an easy one to win, as the Oilers are coming off a game last night. This coupled with a Kings team that had played in almost 2 weeks. The Oilers will be tired and ready to play, while the Kings will be rested, but cold from not playing lately. If the Oilers get ahead early like they did last night, they should be able to win this game.

Edmonton Oilers Lines

I would assume that the lines from last night would be very similar to the lineup tonight. Skinner will likely be backing up Mike Smith though.
