After losing a game to a weaker team on Monday against the Ottawa Senators, the Edmonton Oilers look to get a win against an upper echelon team in the Washington Capitals. The Capitals are coming of a 4-3 OT win last night against the Pittsburg Penguins. So the Oilers should be playing a tired Capitals team.

Playing a team on the back end of a back to back is always an advantage. It is even more of an advantage when the team the night before heads into OT. Although it is a short trip from Pittsburg, the Capitals did have to travel in-between the games as well. So except them to start the game a little sluggish.

A slow start for the other team is good for the Edmonton Oilers, who for the last month are almost guaranteed to give up the first goal. If the Oilers score first they play a better game. When the Oilers are chasing the game they end up leaving holes on the defensive side and this game could get out of hand quickly.

Washington has the players that will capitalize on most of their chances. So if Edmonton can limit the amount of high danger chances against they drastically increase their winning chances. The Oilers are the opposite right now, they haven’t been finishing their chances lately. If they can fix this issues I think Edmonton Oilers will win the game tonight.

Edmonton Oilers Lines

It is nice to see Tyson Barrie draw back into the line-up. I wonder if he will still run the first unit powerplay or if they will leave Evan Bouchard there. There is also a few other changes in the bottom 9.

Washington Capitals Lines

Should be a similar line up to the team the Washington Capitals iced last night. I would assume that Ilya Samsonov will get he start tonight though. It also appears that Alex Ovechkin will be out tonight as he tested positive for COVID.
