Another Come From Behind Win for The Edmonton Oilers

Once again this season the Edmonton Oilers gave up the first goal against the Nashville Predators. This tied a record streak of 11 straights games where they give up the first goal. Just like the last 2 games the Oilers were able to come back to eventually win the game 3-2 in a shootout. As much as a win is still a win, I would really like to see the Oilers score the first goal of the game.

First Period

Once again the Edmonton Oilers fell behind in a game. On this goal Filip Forsberg is able to walk from the point and take an uncontested shot from the top of the circle. It was a good shot by Forsberg. There was a battle of players in front of Mikko Koskinen and Forsberg was able to find an open spot on the net and beat a screened Koskinen. Not really much of a chance for Koskinen on this one. You can’t stop what you can’t see.

With less than a minute left in the period Connor McDavid went full McDavid. He picked the puck up in front of his own net and out skated a couple Predators then was able to drive wide and slide the puck under Juuse Saros. I think this is going to be a goal Saros may want back as the puck just slides right under his pads.

Second Period

On this goal the Oilers lose the faceoff then after a missed half pinch, Duncan Keith was caught way out of position. Then after a nice pass the Nashville Predators had a 2 on 1 in which Matt Duchene makes no mistake and fires a rocket just under the bar on Koskinen’s glove side. You may want to instantly jump on Mikko’s glove hand having problem, but that was an excellent shot by Duchene.

Sometimes you need to be a bit lucky in this league. This is one of those times. Off a won faceoff Evan Bouchard takes a wrist shot from the point, it then goes on to be deflected twice and then finds its way in.

Shootout

In the shootout winning goal, once again a classic moment of McDavid being McDavid. He comes in and completely toys with Juuse Saros. I feel a little bit bad for Saros because he didn’t have much of a chance on that move.

Post-Game Interviews

It looks like the Edmonton Oilers are having fun again. They can make jokes and they are smiling in the interviews. You can see they have had a weight lifted off their shoulders after putting a couple of wins together.

In this they also talk about the Evander Kane signing. They go into how the room culture is a thing that they want to have being winning, try hard attitude. So if Kane can be those things he should fit in.

The Edmonton Oilers go on a three game eastern conference road trip now. They will take on the Montreal Canadiens Saturday 5PM, Ottawa Senators Monday 5:30PM then finish it off taking on the Washington Capitals 5PM on Wednesday.

The Edmonton Oilers should be able to beat the Canadiens and Senators as they are near the bottom of the league standings. This will push their winning streak to 5. The game against the Capitals will be the next strong test for the Oilers.
