After beating the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday in a shootout, the Edmonton Oilers welcome the Chicago Blackhawks to Rogers Place. This will be the first meeting between these two teams since the Blackhawks knocked out the Oilers from their own bubble last August.

The two teams have very different rosters from that day. The Edmonton Oilers have 8 players remaining from that roster where the Blackhawks have 9. Since then the Oilers have added more depth on defense as well as offence.

The Blackhawks are coming of a 4-2 victory against the Seattle Kraken. In a game they barely held on as the Kraken almost pulled off a 3rd period come back before Jake McCabe added an empty net goal to ice it.

This is a game that the Oilers really need to win. They have not been able to put consecutive wins together since the first week of the month. They need to get back to their winning ways if they want to keep their lead in the Pacific Division. They currently are only ahead of both Calgary Flames and Anaheim Ducks by 1 point.

The big test in this game for the Edmonton Oilers is how they deal with there injures on defence. Darnel Nurse will be out for a couple weeks. This will be a big challenge for the Oilers as the Nurse is their top minute playing defensemen. Those minutes will need to be spread throughout the rest of the lineup.

This will be the NHL debut for Philip Broberg. Broberg was the Oilers 1st round pick in 2018. He was the 8th overall selection that year.

The Expected Lineup for the Edmonton Oilers:

Hyman-McDavid-Puljujarvi

RNH-Draisaitl-Yamamoto

Foegele-McLeod-Kassian

Benson-Turris-Sceviour

Keith-Ceci

Broberg-Barrie

Russell-Bouchard

Skinner
