Edmonton Oilers(11 GP-9 W-2 L-0 OT)

The Edmonton Oilers are on fire so far to start this season. Coming into this season there were quite a few questions marks surrounding the team. Now that we are a month into the season, I think some of those questions have been answered.

Goaltending

So far this season there has only really been one game that you wish the Oilers could have had better goal tending. This came in the loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. Mikko Koskinen let in a couple of weak goals.

In 11 games the Oilers goalie stats are fairly good. In these games the goalies have averaged 2.71 goals against and have had a save percentage of 0.920%.  The injury Mike Smith was unfortunate, but the Edmonton Oilers have been able to still have success even without their number 1 goalie.

Depth Defense

Going into the season the loss of Adam Larsson left a pretty large hole to be filled on the defensive side of things for the team. The additions of Duncan Keith and Cody Ceci have seemed to be a solid fit. This coupled with the strong play of Evan Bouchard have made the defense a fairly solid core so far this season.

There is still some growth for the group though. It is still early in the season though, there is time to get these mistakes out of the game. Once the team starts playing top end talent teams these mistakes will have to be out of their game if they want to win games.
