The Edmonton Oilers played a close game after falling behind 3-0 early in the game against the Detroit Red Wings.
The Edmonton Oilers were not able to complete the comeback in the end losing 4-2 to the Detroit Red Wings. This game was everything that should have been when the Oilers fell behind early against the New York Rangers a few days ago.
Stuart Skinner did what he could stopping 35 of 38 shots on the night. The Oilers just did not start on time and had a few too many mistakes to come back and win in the end. This was a winnable game for the Oilers, against a team that they definitely should beat.

Edmonton started the night on the wrong note giving up three goals before finding the back of the net with under a minute to go in the second period. The team just did not seem ready to go tonight and it showed on the scoreboard. They were drastically outshot and outperformed in the first but they still managed to make the game competitive.
Having a game where the Oilers fail to capitalize on a power play is a new thing for the Oilers. That could honestly be the difference-maker tonight as one goal on the man advantage would have tied the game up for them.
On the night, McDavid led the team with 25:08 minutes of ice time, but all he had was two shots on goal to show for it. On the defensive side of things, Evan Bouchard led the team in ice time with 23:26. It is great to see the young Bouchard finally take on a big role with the team.
Next up for the Oilers is the Boston Bruins on Thursday in Boston! Boston definitely will be one of the toughest opponents the team has played thus far.
