The Edmonton Oilers have a little friendly competition going with their two top point-getters in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.

For the past few seasons, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have been towards the top of the NHL in points every season. In 2020, Leon Draisaitl won the Art Ross for the most points in the NHL that season, McDavid followed it up this past season with the Art Ross.

The two top players of the Oilers constantly find ways to raise the bar. The past few days have been spent talking about how good McDavid has been so far, how does Draisaitl answer? Last game he had a four-point night including two goals and two assists against the Seattle Kraken.

The Oilers are lucky to have McDavid and Draisaitl. The two stars have 17 points through eight games a heck of an accomplishment in that time. While everyone has been asking how many points McDavid could put up this season and whether or not he could pass 150, I think it is also worth asking how far behind Draisaitl could potentially be.

Edmonton is lucky to have these two-star players. It seems like every night the team is destined to have at least one of them put up more than a couple of points, which will help the team win games.

This season is all about making the playoffs and getting another chance at the Stanley Cup. For McDavid and Draisaitl, I wonder how much the duo actually care about getting that Art Ross. Winning these games is what matters most. Which just makes this team even better.

The goals and points these two stars are getting is not just for the sake of getting points to help bump up their stats. These guys are driven to win and want to prove they are the best of the best. I cannot wait to watch how this plays out all season long. Watching McDavid put up a few points one night and Draisaitl the next. These two stars are a package deal, and the success one has definitely rubs off on the other.

Any team would be lucky to have one player vying for the top spot in the league in points, but the Oilers are pretty much always guaranteed two which is amazing in itself. Edmonton’s next game is tonight against the Nashville Predators.
