The Edmonton Oilers finally had one of their big offseason additions score a goal. Duncan Keith registered his first goal of the season last night during a big win for the Oilers over the Seattle Kraken.

Duncan Keith has not been an offensive machine the past few years, with the Edmonton Oilers maybe his numbers can go up a little.

From the start of the 2017-18 season to last night, Keith had just 15 goals. Last night he was able to get on board early in the season and maybe he can replicate that with some more goals throughout the year.

With the Edmonton Oilers, no one is asking for Keith to carry the team. However, he should have some improved numbers compared to what he has in the past. Here are his advanced statistics throughout his entire career, including the first seven games of the season this year:

The Oilers are going to need more from Keith. While he is not getting the power play minutes he was getting in Chicago, more players like the goal below will be needed from him. He should have the ability to pinch up ice and get involved offensively every once and a while, and last night showed that.

The Oilers play one of Keith’s old division rivals on Tuesday, the Nashville Predators. Nashville is going to be a different kind of threat for the Oilers and will be the second game of the season against a Central Division team for the franchise. The first was against the Arizona Coyotes, the new kid on the block in the Central. This will be a tougher opponent than the Coyotes.
