The Edmonton Oilers can now focus on the upcoming season at hand. Kailer Yamamoto signed a contract extension keeping him in Edmonton this season. Now all that matters is the season ahead, which starts with a game against the Vancouver Canucks.

The Edmonton Oilers’ first game of the season is on October 13th against the Vancouver Canucks at home.

With the Kailer Yamamoto contract, everyone that needed a contract is signed, and the team brings their full group to training camp and to the preseason. With this contract out of the way, now the question of what the lineup could look like this season is up in the air. We will be spending a lot of time on the lineup and some season predictions soon. I think everyone can guess the top six though.

Zach Hyman – Connor McDavid – Jesse Puljujarvi

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins – Leon Draisaitl – Kailer Yamamoto

Not a bad group right there. These six players will be carrying the team offensively this season, and while that might be troublesome come playoff time, I hope everyone can enjoy the fun year the team has ahead offensively.

Whenever fans can watch someone on their team potentially put up crazy point totals like 150 that is pretty amazing to see. I mean let that sink in, McDavid put up 105 points last season in 56 games, and if he plays at that level again this season then the team would be looking at one player with around 150 points. This year is going to be fun and exciting.

Obviously, we have a lot of time ahead to discuss certain details like the goaltending and how the defense could potentially look, but for now, I have to say I am pretty pumped to have hockey on my screen again this season.

We have some time to reflect ahead of the busy season. Let us know in the comments which new addition you are most excited to watch this season? Some potential options include Zach Hyman – who will be an Oiler for a long time with his contract, or Duncan Keith – who while maybe a little past his prime is a winner with a lot of experience to bring to the team.

The first preseason game is on September 26th against the Calgary Flames. That will be the first time fans have a chance to see this new group in action.
