Edmonton Oilers: Five reasons this team is a playoff team
By Jim Lynch
2. Weak Division
The Edmonton Oilers division is not the strongest in the NHL. This season they will be in the Pacific that has opponents like the Seattle Kraken, Los Angeles Kings, San Jose Sharks, and Anaheim Ducks. None of those four teams are expected to be very good, and the biggest threat in the division should be the Vegas Golden Knights.
Edmonton should be able to compete with Vegas for the top spot in the central, but being number two wouldn’t be bad either. On paper, when looking at the division this team is in, a playoff spot should be guaranteed.
Edmonton is lucky to be in the Pacific as pretty much every other division in the league is not as wide open as it is here. Edmonton still does need to go out and play the games and make sure they end the year on the right note.
Remember last year saw the Oilers in a weak North Division, and everyone remembers how that ended for the team. (First Round Sweep)
