The Edmonton Oilers season is 48 days away as their first game is on October 13th against the Vancouver Canucks at home. The game definitely will be a fun one to watch.

Ryan Hamilton wore number 48 for two seasons with the Edmonton Oilers.

Hamilton days away. Hamilton wore number 48 for two seasons with the Edmonton Oilers in 2013-14 and 2014-15. His tenure with the team did not run for longer than 18 games, but he is one of the only players to wear number 48 so far.

The Oilers’ season could not come soon enough. This year will definitely be an interesting season as it is the first year back in the old divisions after the COVID divisions that had to form to limit travel and exposure amongst teams.

This season will be the first year also that the Oilers get to play their new divisional opponent the Seattle Kraken. Seattle having a hockey team is going to be a fun and unique experience, and one that I think the Oilers are hoping to take advantage of as they are a better team on the ice and will need those points.

So with 48 days to go, it will be interesting to see if the team will be making any more moves during the coming weeks. Maybe even a new player that wears number 48 on their jersey could be something the team adds! I’d rather have a new goalie or another addition in the bottom six though.

Hamilton was an undrafted forward that managed to make his way into the NHL with the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 2011-12 season. He would spend four years in the league between Edmonton and Toronto and he scored his only NHL goal with the Oilers during the 2014-15 season.

There are a few undrafted forwards on the Oilers right now Derek Ryan is one for example. Hamilton might not be a fan favorite or someone that spent a lot of time with the team, but even still there are just Ryan Hamilton days to go until the season begins!
