The Edmonton Oilers have a number of players under contract for long-term deals. Today I want to go over how much longer some of the players on the team are under contract.

Having players signed long-term creates stability on the team. While the core is usually the best players on the roster, it also has something to do with the length of the deals for certain players. Financially speaking, the players under contract long-term are going to make up the core group of a good team.

Edmonton has a number of guys signed long-term. This team has a group locked in for more than three years in a lot of cases. Here are the players that have three-year contracts with the team:

Zack Kassian

Kassian is not the best example on this list. His three-year 3.2 million dollar contract was signed after playing well with McDavid for a few seasons. However, now that he is not paired with the Oilers captain he has struggled greatly.

This deal proves that McDavid shouldn’t be paired with guys making big amounts of dollars. Sometimes the team will have to let go of an asset or two because of how well they played with McDavid or Draisaitl because those guys were the reason they played so great.

Warren Foegele

Warren Foegele is going to be an interesting newcomer to the Oilers. I am excited to see him play in the bottom six. He is the type of guy Edmonton needs to keep adding. Foegele is 25 and signed a three-year 2.75 million dollar contract. Not a lot of money with term for someone who will become a lock in the Oilers lineup.

Tyson Barrie

Tyson Barrie signed a three-year 4.5 million dollar contract extension. For a defenceman that just had one of the best offensive years around the entire league, locking him in for 4.5 million is not a bad deal. I am excited to see what he does this season.
