The Edmonton Oilers blue line was lucky to have Adam Larsson leading the charge in 2021.

Adam Larsson is a top shutdown defenceman in the NHL. For the Edmonton Oilers, they are lucky to have him around on their team. Edmonton is a team that can score a lot of goals no matter the situation, and sometimes having a good defensive defenceman can help as well.

Larsson was paired with Kris Russell throughout most of the season. The two formed a great shutdown pairing that helped make the Oilers a better team, as the franchise looks to move forward and become more of a playoff threat it is important that they keep players like Larsson around.

Bigger Picture:

Adam Larsson is not a player that needs to score a lot of goals with all the offensive threats on the team the fact that Larsson only scored four goals and had six assists is not that big of a deal.

In the bigger picture, Larsson was as good as ever this season and if he can continue to be a solid number three defenseman then the Oilers will be set for years to come.

Next Season:

The Edmonton Oilers need to make sure they re-sign Adam Larsson. He is one of the most important players on the roster that needs a contract heading into next season.

Edmonton has a number of free agents that are in need of a contract, but considering Larsson is only 28 years old and has been a big part of the team for the last few seasons, there is no doubt that they will bring him back for the 2021-22 season.

The defense hopefully will be ready to rock and roll next season, while there might be some changes in the personnel of the blue line as long as players like Larsson are back they will be ready to go.
