I have looked through the Pacific, Central, and Atlantic Divisions looking for players that would be a good fit for the Edmonton Oilers from each team. In this article, I will be taking a look at the final division the Metropolitan.

Carolina Hurricanes

Dougie Hamilton (Current Cap Hit $5,750,000, 55GP-10G-32A) UFA

If Hamilton tests the free-agent market he is going to demand big money long-term. He is an excellent defenseman on both ends of the ice. If the Oilers are to sign him it would likely be another year where Bouchard doesn’t get much NHL time unless they lose Larsson or trade Bear.

Petr Mrazek (Current Cap Hit $3,125,000, 12GP-6W-0.923SV%) UFA

This with the play of Nedeljkovic this season, Mrazek has become expendable by the Hurricanes. This I think could be a good thing for the Edmonton Oilers. If the Oilers move on from one of their current goaltenders I think Mrazek might be a good option to take over the number one spot

Columbus Blue Jackets

Joonas Korpisalo (Current Cap Hit $2,800,000, 33GP-9W-0.894SV%) Trade

Korpisalo is a younger option for the Oilers to bring in for a goaltender. He had good numbers earlier in his career but in the years when the Jackets don’t make the playoffs, he has struggled and has had a lower save percentage. If he wants to be a starter in Edmonton he would need to bring the performance and ability he showed earlier in his career,

Michael Del Zotto (Current Cap Hit $700,000, 53GP-4G-9A) UFA

Throughout his career, Michael Del Zotto has been a defenseman that teams can lean on in almost any scenario. I believe the veteran presence of Del Zotto could do the Oilers defense some good. He would be a good in the 4-6 spot on the Oilers current depth chart. He could be a potential replacement for Kulikov, they play a similar style of game, but Del Zotto has more offensive potential.
