The Edmonton Oilers have had quite the year so far. In a shortened 56-game regular season, they have had their ups and downs but consistency was the name of the game. Early on, head coach Dave Tippett preached about the only way to do what needed to be done was to take things one game at a time.

You know, don’t worry about the weekend games or your next opponent, just live in the moment and focus on doing whatever it takes to win on game day. Not only did the Oilers take care of business but they’re officially heading to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the second year in a row, which makes it their 23rd time in franchise history.

The Oilers haven’t gone to back-to-back playoff berths since the late 90s as this could very well be the start of the next golden era for the team. It’s crazy to think how early on in the regular season, fans and pundits were worried the Oilers would likely have a bad season. Not only did do the Oilers have the best series winning percentage in the NHL at .673 but they have been consistent all season long to much praise in the hockey world.

The best has yet to come for the Edmonton Oilers

At this point in time, the Oilers are 31-17-2 with 64 points on the season. It’s been a lot of fun watching them have many incredible moments so far but now that they punched their ticket into the NHL postseason, the real magic is about to begin. This team has progressed nicely over the past few months and looks like they can pretty much take on anyone.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is pretty scary if you’re the opposition. The Oilers are hungry and want to continue proving to the naysayers that the best has yet to come. The dynamic duo of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl has been so much fun to watch that they will undoubtedly be a driving force throughout the postseason.

Goalie Mike Smith has evolved nicely as an all-around goaltender that gets the job done with ease and precision. Even the overall defense of the Oilers has continued to tighten up and been stepping up to win those close games where it could go either way. Best of all, this is such a great time for everything to fall into place for the Oilers to ride this momentum straight into making some serious noise in the postseason.

The Oilers look to be the real deal coming together at the most perfect time and above all else, proving that action will forever speak louder than words. Get ready for a magical postseason for this team because the Oilers will be ready to prove to the hockey world that they mean business. One game at a time.
