The last two moves that Edmonton Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli made reek of desperation, and it shows that he must be fired ASAP.

Edmonton Oilers: Those of you who were regular readers at my previous site will know that I’m slow to get on the bandwagon of “Fire (insert name here)” when it comes to coaches and management.  Too many Oiler fans post stupidity and ignorance on the internet without actually thinking about what they’re saying, and they speak with their heart rather than their head.

But now, after these last two trades, it’s undeniable that Peter Chiarelli has lost his edge and it’s time for him to go before he blows up the roster with a stupid trade or signing that will set us back for years.

I bet you dollars to donuts he has a deal for Nuge in his back pocket that’s going to set the team back because he’s got some no-name player that he can get in return straight up.  Or maybe he trades away our 1st round pick for another Griffin Reinhart type.

Either way, I don’t feel comfortable with him in the GM seat anymore going forward.  I don’t want him anywhere near the trade deadline or free agency; he’s only going to blow up the team even more which is the last thing this team needs.

Assistant GM Keith Gretzky can take over in the interim until a replacement can be found.

Anyway, let’s look at the acquisitions, shall we?

Courtesy of TSN transaction tracker, we can see what the last two trades were.  Forget about the two farm team call-ups; those aren’t important right now because that’s standard stuff when dealing with injuries.
