The Edmonton Oilers boast a 6-3-1 record after their tough stretch to kick off the 2018-19 season. This is a brief analysis of those 10 games.

It’s safe to say that the Edmonton Oilers are one of the hottest teams in the NHL so far in this early season. The three-game winning streak that they have earned since last Thursday is astonishing, to say the least.

Racking off wins over the defending Stanley Cup Champions, then winning back-to-back games over the Nashville Predators and the Chicago Blackhawks is the most impressive stretch any team has had so far this year. Credit has to be given to all the parties involved, and that includes the head coach Todd McLellan. He always seems to get the blame anytime the team has fallen on hard times but never the credit, so he is due for that.

The one significant improvement that the Edmonton Oilers have shown so far the past week is their resiliency. They never really shown any fight when the chips were down especially in games that were tightly contested.

Opposition goals were scored in the first few minutes of the game that would deflate the Oilers, and it would take them at least a period before they can score a goal. You don’t see that much in this 3-game winning streak where the Oilers are consistently trying to score and not wait around for their first line to do all the work.

That right there has encouraged the rest of the team to play harder on the defensive end and not give up any silly goals. It puts less pressure on Cam Talbot to work twice as hard to keep his team in the game.

The first ten games of the season were considered one of the hardest stretches any team in the league had to go through. The fact that this team came out with a 6-3-1 record is just amazing and a testament to the hard work they have gone through.

Can the Edmonton Oilers score their seventh win of the season over the Minnesota Wild tonight?
