Can the Edmonton Oilers keep up their winning momentum? So far they have been 3-0 in the preseason.

The Edmonton Oilers won their third straight game of the preseason. This performance against the Winnipeg Jets was surprising and unexpected. That’s the biggest takeaway after the Oilers beat the Jets 7-3 last night, it was utter domination.

The Jets didn’t have their stars on the ice and only did sport a lot of minor league players. In the end, the Oilers did what they had to do and show everybody that they are trending on the right direction. Even though these games don’t mean anything, these performances can translate well into the season if the team maintain their consistency.

The one player that stood out from this game yet again was Ty Rattie. I’ve said it before days ago be he looked like a man on a mission: and that is to be locked in as a first-line winger by opening night. He was even asked that at the end of the game and all that he’s been thinking about is being paired up with Connor McDavid.

Scoring two goals against the Canucks and just last night dishing out three assists while scoring two goals is merely fantastic. He’ll need a couple more games, and he should be a lock for that first line. This McDavid line is going to look scary if Ty Rattie can hold up his end and be as productive as he can.

Speaking of the McDavid line, they looked sensational, but that wasn’t surprising to anybody whatsoever. Evan Bouchard did his job and got an assist for the game; the Oilers will expect more from their rookie defenceman. Especially since they don’t have a someone who can move the puck or make some passes. That’s something to keep an eye out for in the next few games.

The Edmonton Oilers will be facing off against the Winnipeg Jets once again this Sunday. It’ll be interesting to see if the Jets play their full roster or elect to have the same players from last night face off against the Oilers.
