The Edmonton Oilers announced their rookie camp roster Tuesday, which features a number of their up-and-coming prospects.

The roster consists of 28 players, and rookie camp will run from Sept. 8 to Sept. 11. Edmonton’s young players will get to play in a four-day prospects tournament in Penticton and will get practice and ice time prior to the start of training camp. Camp officially kicks off Thursday with medical and fitness testing at Rogers Place.

As the return of hockey comes closer every day, here is everything to know heading into the start of camp this week.

Notable Names in Attendance

From free-agent signees to draft picks, the Oilers have a lot of big-name players and prospects present. Kailer Yamamoto, Edmonton’s 22nd overall pick this year, will be in attendance, as well as top WHL defensive prospect Ethan Bear. In addition, Tyler Benson, the Edmonton native taken in the second round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, will also be in attendance.

Free agent signees, like Joseph Gambardella and Ryan Mantha, will also be at camp. The Oilers signed Gambardella to an entry-level deal back in March after he posted 52 points in 41 games with U-Mass Lowell in 2016-17.

Invitees to Watch

The Oilers invited forwards Grayson Pawlenchuk and Trey Fix-Wolansky, as well as defenceman Sahvan Khaira to attend rookie camp this season. These players are still trying to prove their worth in juniors and will get the chance to stand out with Edmonton.

Fix-Wolansky was a standout player in a rough season for the Edmonton Oil Kings. The 18-year-old right winger impressed with 24 goals and 54 points in 70 games this past season. As he looks toward the draft, he could very well catch the eyes of the Oilers, who need more RW depth.

Pawlenchuk has been a vital member of the Red Deer Rebels. Not only can he play the centre or wing, but he is one of their alternate captains He was limited to just 19 games this year, posting only four goals and nine points. However, he has potential to grow his game and could seize the opportunity with the Oilers to make a name for himself.

Sahvan Khaira, the younger brother of Oilers forward Jujhar, is a blueliner for the WHL’s Swift City Broncos. The 6-foot-3, 218-pound defender had a goal, 17 points and 88 PIM through 70 games last year. A right-hand shot, he is a big, physical defenceman with a lot of room to develop. Khaira also attended Oilers Development Camp this summer.
