Though the NHL offseason is still going for another two months, the Edmonton Oilers prospects don’t take time off. In fact, many of them are currently representing their respective countries at the World Junior Summer Showcase.

Perhaps the most notable name at the tournament is Oilers prospect Kailer Yamamoto. The 18-year-old already turned heads this past season with a 99-point performance at the WHL level. However, with an already strong showing through two games at the showcase so far, he continues to impress.

Yamamoto was invited to represent Team USA in the World Junior Summer Showcase back in June. He scored the game-winning goal for USA Blue in a 4-2 win over Team Finland Sunday.

All of the highlights from Sunday’s action can be found below.

As Yamamoto continues to develop and work toward his NHL goals, he is making a strong case to push for a possible NHL roster spot. Though he is still young, and should still develop further, he has a lot of skill and ability. His shot is deadly and accurate, and he is a fast, effective skater who can not only rip the puck but find open space and make plays on the fly.

Edmonton’s 208th pick and defenceman Phil Kemp is also representing Team USA. The 6-foot-3, 201-pound blueliner has been quiet from the blueline but solid for the Americans. Through two games thus far, he’s recorded two shots and is an impressive plus-3.

Oilers goalie prospects Dylan Wells and Stuart Skinner are also playing, representing Team Canada. Edmonton’s 32nd overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, Tyler Benson, was invited to attend and represent Team Canada, but he was unable to attend.
