The Edmonton Oilers are fielding offers for Jordan Eberle from many different teams, as per sources.
On TSN’s “Insider Trading,” Darren Dreger spoke about the Oilers’ winger and the rumors surrounding a trade.
“I’m told there are offers on the table for Jordan Eberle, nothing that Peter Chiarelli is willing to accept,” Dreger said.

The 26-year-old winger has been the centre of trade rumors for quite some time now. Since his numbers and upside started to decline, many have speculated that Eberle will see a change in scenery. Now, Dreger believes “he’ll definitely get traded.” It’s not a matter of if, but when.

This past season, Eberle posted 20 goals and 51 points. The biggest problem in the offseason surrounded around his inaccuracy when it came to shooting and getting pucks on net. His struggles follow the fact that he worked on one-timers with a new trainer in the offseason so he could improve his shooting and play on the top line.

When it comes to trading Eberle, it seems like a rational option moving forward. The team still has to sign Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl to long-term deals, and they will likely earn hefty salaries.
Considering Eberle currently earns $6 million a year, but plays bottom-six hockey, he is likely to be sent away. This will not only help the Oilers acquire someone else but free up more money to allocate to other contracts.
The Oilers are looking for more depth and proven scoring ability and consistency on the wing. In addition to a top-six winger, the team may also be looking for more depth on defence; Andrej Sekera is out long-term, and Kris Russell’s future is up in the air.

Overall, the team has a lot to address, and Eberle’s future is surely something that will be figured out in the coming weeks.
