Four Reasons Why Nail Yakupov is One of the Best Edmonton Oilers Thus Far

In the offseason, we discussed the Edmonton Oilers‘ wacky right winger, Nail Yakupov.  We posed the question of now or never for Nail Yakupov in August, stating that with one year left on his entry-level contract, the youngster must step it up and truly show what he means to this Edmonton Oilers organization that is trying to turn around this franchise.

We’ve been paying attention to the stars thus far.  Connor McDavid, Taylor Hall, etc.  These guys are the big ones who make the difference night in and night out, but Yakupov has been looking great out there.  I honestly and truly believe that Yakupov is honestly playing the best hockey I have seen out of him since draft year.  And here are four reasons (well three if you exclude our last one) reasons that Nail Yakupov has been one of the best Edmonton Oilers thus far this season.

To do this, we use stats and comparisons from various seasons, as well as team statistics.  We also use his infamous Twitter account (@nail10_1993).  Follow it; it’s the greatest thing you can do with your life since purchasing sliced bread.  Seriously, who doesn’t love a little Yak-City?
