Intro

Have you ever wondered how the Edmonton Oilers would fair outside of the rink?  Sure, they lead normal everyday lives, but what if they had been placed in your favorite TV show?  What would that lead to?  Since it’s Halloween coming around the corner, we are starting a special new series.  It’s called ” If the Edmonton Oilers Were In…”

Every week, we will ask fans to give us a TV show, and when they do so, we will take the Edmonton Oilers and devise a story line.  But due to the upcoming spooky festivities, we are going to write an entire narrative, placing the Oilers inside the bodies of characters of the hit AMC Television show, The Walking Dead.

Next: Rick Grimes as...

Connor McDavid as Rick Grimes

RICK GRIMES- We have to make Rick Grimes Connor McDavid.  Why, you ask?  Well, he’s a young, sharp-shooting guy who knows how to handle his job by himself.  He is hard-working and is new to this hockey world, much like Rick when he wakes up to the zombie apocalypse.  He finds the group, as Connor ends up with the Oilers, and he tries to lead them through a new generation of hockey.  Through his knowledge and skill, he attempts to help the group ultimately advance, and he always comes in clutch, just like Rick Grimes.

Of course, McDavid doesn’t turn crazy or have a stupid son like Rick does.  However, he will hopefully have a “Ricktator” role and become the captain sooner or later.  Oh well, who knows?  As he grows with age, he will with experience.

Next: Daryl Dixon as...

Taylor Hall as Daryl Dixon

Yes, Taylor Hall takes the role of Daryl Dixon.  He is a badass on and off the ice.  He has a mean, lean attitude and is ready to do whatever it takes to help his team.  He is skilled and can shoot from anywhere with accuracy, and he always sees the openings and does what he can to help the group, just like Daryl.

Also, just look at him.  The look in his eyes, the toughness he displays.  He is a perfect Daryl when you’re comparing Oilers to fictional characters.  Who else could take this role, I ask?  Who!?

Next: Glenn as...

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins as Glenn

GLENN IS NOT DEAD.  Let’s hope, anyways, because who else is perfect for Glenn besides Ryan Nugent-Hopkins?  Baby Nuge is not considered Judith, but he is a young, baby-faced looking guy like Glenn who is sneaky and always a threat.

Glenn has the ability to slide through things with ease and is always a tough guy who can withstand anything, just like Nuge.  He’s also a fan favorite, and he’s a fun-loving, happy character who we are always happy to see.  Hopefully, this isn’t the end of the road for Glenn, because this isn’t the end of the road for Nuge.  Plus, both of their inabilities to grow facial hair truly make them a match.

Next: Michonne as...

Jordan Eberle is Michonne

Hopefully, everyone will ignore the fact that Eberle is a female character, because that is definitely not the point we are making here.  In fact, we don’t care about boys or girls in relation to Oilers.  This isn’t the 50s.  Anyway, Ebs is definitely Michonne.  He’s silent sometimes, but is absolutely lethal, and he is definitely an asset that the Oilers need.

He is a machine, just like Michonne, and his sniping and scoring ability is just like Michonne’s ability with her sword (Katana).  It’s unbelievable watching him on the ice, and when he’s injured, it definitely hurts.  Both are great actors, too.  I mean, just watch the commercials.  Also, Michonne’s two zombies she walks around are just like Eberle’s linemates when he enters beast mode: he is the only one on the ice.

Next: Carl Grimes as...

Justin Schultz is Carl Grimes

Who is everyone’s favorite guy to hate, but who we sometimes love?  Yes, Justin Schultz takes the cake as Carl.  Sometimes he can come in clutch.  However, at other times, he is just god-awful, and we all just hate him.  He sometimes has the ability to ruin everything, like Carl, while at other times, he is actually important.

Schultz also has the ability to make or break a fandom, and we all know how he is when it comes to defense.  He is a perfect match to Carl, our favorite kid to hate, and sometimes someone we hate to love.

Next: Abraham as...

Matt Hendricks is Abraham

Wise and good at solving problems.  Short-tempered and brutal when he’s angry.  Loves the country style.  This is a perfect representation of Matt Hendricks.  They call Abraham a split between wisdom and pure rage, and that is Hendricks.  He is a smart, classy player always looking to defend his team, but when he gets angry, he gets angry.

Hendricks isn’t afraid to pull out the big guns and fight, and he is amazing in shootouts and is a hard-working grinder.  He is also an asset to the team, just as Abraham is an asset to the group.  This is a perfect representation of Abraham.

Next: Walkers are...

Calgary Flames as Walkers

Yes, the Walkers are indeed the Calgary Flames.  They are our rivals and who the Oilers are constantly against.  They put up a hard fight and are annoying to us in Oil Country, and they are always hungry to try to beat the Oilers.

However, the Oilers always try to come out on top.  That is why the Flames are walkers.  Short, sweet explanation.

Next: The Governor is...

Gary Bettman is the Governor

Gary Bettman is the most hated man in the NHL and he is indeed the Governor.  The head of hockey operations always seems to put the Oilers organization last, unless it comes to the NHL Draft Lottery.  Everything is his fault, and he is always hurting his followers and the fans, because of the way that he is.

We can’t really explain Bettman, but the disallowed goal (not directly his fault) makes us madder at him due to the fact that he hasn’t done anything or come out and said anything.  So, yeah, Bettman=Governor.  Cool?  Cool.

Next: The Round-Up

Round-Up

Give us more TV shows to compare even more Oilers players too!  We will be doing this series every week, or at least trying to.  This was a Halloween special.  Thanks, FanSiders!

Also tell us who you would make different players and coaches not listed!

Please comment what you thought or if you have another TV show in mind.  We do read them, you know, and we might just reply too!
