Though it’s been a short time, it’s hard to deny one thing: there is already chemistry between Edmonton Oilers forwards Benoit Pouliot and David Desharnais.

Desharnais, a product of Montreal, has been excellent in his short time with the Oilers. In six games so far, Desharnais has two goals and four points, and is a plus-2.

He averages about 12 minutes of ice time per night, and is an asset when it comes to the checking line. Though he is small, the 5-foot-7, 171-pound centre can crash the net and get in the greasy places, while also creating a lot of momentum on the rush.

Since returning from injury, Pouliot has tried to make his presence known. He came back with just 10 points in 51 games, and has played four games in his return to action. Despite looking rusty in his first couple of games back, Pouliot has been working hard on the third line with Desharnais. Now, he has goals in two consecutive games.

While both of these veterans have had questions surrounding their future, they appear to have chemistry. They bounce off one another and can find each other on the ice. Not to mention, their playing styles matchup, and they can keep up with each other to make quick plays.

Pouliot has an underrated shot, and Desharnais can crash the net and make smart passes. With both of them together, they are able to make outstanding plays and truly display chemistry.

Additionally, now that they have each other, both of them can hopefully worth to increase their value. Pouliot’s future has been in question for a while, and Desharnais is still proving his worth. If both of them can keep up the energy on the third line, the Oilers will not only have depth scoring, but trust in some of their veteran bottom-six forwards.
