As we draw nearer to another NHL season, the minds of many hockey fans start realizing training camp is only a little over a month away. It gets exciting, as the stories start to trickle out about which prospects are burning it up, and what established players are looking like.
For instance, Nail Yakupov came back to Edmonton early this year to train for the upcoming season. It shows a commitment on his part to being better and stronger this year. He knows what he needs to do and he is getting ready NOW.
And the there’s a guy like Greg Chase. Selected by the Oilers in last year’s entry draft in the seventh round, he went on to score 85 points with the Calgary Hitmen and turned heads at Canada’s World Juniors Hockey Championship camp just the other day. He’s a rare, late round gem.
Or there’s the stories that will emerge about new players like Teddy Purcell, Benoit Pouliot, Leon Draisaitl, Nikita Nikitin, Mark Fayne and Keith Aulie. New, big Oilers here to shore up the defensive side of the game.
It will be endless. There’s always SOMETHING to write about. So, that’s why I have decided to put out this call for new writers! I read the message boards and I know there are knowledgable, well versed fans who could see hundreds, if not thousands of readers of their perspective.
