Oil on Whyte Ruling: Under
According to Dobber, he has Gagner playing in 75 games, scoring 25 goals and recording 63 points. For those calculating at home, that’s a 0.84 point per game average and comes in considerably higher than his career average of 0.62. Last season his PPG was 0.79 so if you go by Dobber’s numbers, Gagner is again set for a career season.
Starting with the goal total, 25 is a number that I’m a little leery on. Gagner has never hit the 20-goal plateau in any of his six seasons in the league, although last year he might have if it were a full 82-game schedule.
He’s always been more of a set-up man, 167 career assists to 91 career goals and that is unlikely to change especially if he has Nail Yakupov and his rocket of a shot flanking him on the wing. It’s not unreasonable to say he won’t score 20 goals this season, but 25 is a stretch. For the purpose of this segment I’ll go with 21 goals and the under on Dobber’s projections.
