Oilers vs. Jets - Tuesday's Lineups

The Edmonton Oilers travel to Winnipeg Tuesday night for a clash with their new/old conference rivals.  It’s the third game for the Oilers this pre-season following a pair of games last Saturday against the arch rival Calgary Flames that saw Edmonton split the home and home.

Tonight’s game will also mark the debut of head coach Dallas Eakins to be on the Oilers bench after spending Saturday in the press box to get a bird’s eye view of the game.  He’s already laid the expectations that this is the time for the players to prove their worth to the hockey club or they’ll be looking for a new place to play.

Is it me or Eakins an intense individual 24/7? I personally think he’s great for this club and can’t wait for the season to start.  Anyway, here are the lineups courtesy of the Oilers official website.

Tonight will also mark the debut of Oscar Klefbom who missed last weekend’s games to concussion type symptoms thanks to an elbow he took during the rookie game against the U of A.

The Oilers are sending a young group of forward to Winnipeg tonight with Sam Gagner, Nail Yakupov and Ryan Jones being the lone veterans to lace up the skates.

The defense brings more experience to compliment the youth in Klefbom and Philip Larsen who is a roster hopeful after being acquired in the Shawn Horcoff deal.

With the Oilers set to play the Canucks in back-to-back games on Wednesday, one would have to think that a more veteran savvy group will dress on the west coast tomorrow night.

Stay tuned! For a full lineup of the Jets check out the Oilers website here.
