Oilers Name Bakersfield Condors New ECHL Affiliate

The Edmonton Oilers announced Thursday morning that they have reached a one-year agreement with the Bakersfield Condors to become their new ECHL affiliate for the 2013-14 season, according to the official release on the Oilers site.

Prior to the Condors, the Oilers former ECHL affiliate were the Stockton Thunder, who served the purpose for the past seven seasons.

The new agreement makes the Oilers the third team that the Condors have served as the ECHL affiliate, previously serving the Anaheim Ducks from 2008-10 and most recently the Minnesota Wild for the 2010-11 season (facts courtesy of the Oilers press release).

Last season the Stockton Thunder finished the season with a record of 37-26-5-4 before losing to the Reading Royals in the league final.

Meanwhile the Condors missed the playoffs after suffering a record of 22-44-2-4, good enough for last place in the league.
