Has Kyle Clifford been traded to the Oilers?

Has Kyle Clifford been traded to the Oilers? Or perhaps signed to an RFA offer sheet?

This will only take a minute, because if you want to learn more about Clifford you can just go to anyone of the Oilers blog sites to find out more about the lanky winger from LA. Oil On Whyte editor Derek Stykalo wrote a very good article here  that details some of the rumors and statistics of the player in question.

Anyhow, browsing the twitters tonight I stumbled (not so much) across this vague tweet from John Hoven, a journalist who covers the Los Angeles Kings on Mayor’s Manor  and is VERY connected when it comes to hockey in Hollywood.

Pretty cryptic I know, but let’s make 1+1=Clifford to the Oil. First off, again Hoven is really connected breaking the Rob Blake as assistant GM of the Kings before anyone else. Secondly Clifford has been on the market according to just about every hockey journalist in the know. Thirdly Clifford’s nick name on the team is the “Colonel” as written about here (again by John Hoven), and Fourthly I have a wild imagination.

So let’s look again, Clifford is on the block, that tweet from Hoven, the fact Hoven references Clifford to the fast food chain in the past. See what I’m getting at, 1+1=Kyle Clifford in Edmonton Oiler Silks.

If it is true it will be interesting to see what the return to LA would be. The Kings are up against the cap and won’t be able to take a lot of salary back so that, one would think, would rule out Hemsky. Maybe prospects like Pitlick, or Moroz going back?

Just guessing, but I hope I’m right.
