Heading into the free-agent frezny that is set to begin on July 5th, the Edmonton Oilers will have the opportunity to add some impact players to their team courtesy of the open market. With some money to spend, providing some current bloated salaries are bought out or traded away, Craig MacTavish could become aggressive when pursuing some of the top names that will be looking for new cities to call home next season.
Beginning today we’ll take a look at who those top players might be when it comes to who the Oilers should consider throwing an offer to.
Up first are the forwards. While there are names like that of Jarome Iginla, who would look great in an Oilers sweater (just in spite of the Flames’ fans) it’s an unrealistic option to pay him $6-7 million per season. His best years are behind him anyway.
Also keeping in mind the needs of the Oilers and their current roster, this list of the top forwards that Mac-T and company need to consider may surprise a few people. Leave your comments below and let us know what you think of the mentioned forwards.
