Daily Poll: Calgary Flames Trying to Trade For 1st Overall Pick

Some news out of the Calgary Flames camp over the weekend had the club trying to trade for the first overall pick at the upcoming NHL Entry Draft.

According to Elliottte Friedman of CBC Sports, the Flames offered their three, first round picks for Colorado’s first overall selection.  Friedman reports that the Avs politely turned down the offer.

Calgary is set to draft in the number six hole and then again at the twenty-two position and then number twenty-eight.  Not bad for a club that is in the beginning of re-building, but when you’re the Avs and you have the opportunity to draft a player that could change your franchise, the Flames three picks aren’t overly appealing.

Friedman further went on to explain that if Calgary could land the first overall pick they would draft Nathan MacKinnon and pass on Seth Jones as it’s a about filling a “position of need.”

The Avalanche have said they are willing to listen to offers for the first pick but would need a return package that would be so substantial they’d be foolish not to take it.  Calgary’s three draft picks in the first round don’t appear to be that type of offering.

That brings us to our daily poll.  Should the Calgary Flames continue to attempt to trade up and snag the first overall draft pick or should they consider trading with someone like the Carolina Hurricanes or Nashville Predators for the fourth or fifth overall pick?

Should the Flames trade for the 1st overall pick?
