- This is the eighth game on the nine game roadie. Oilers are 1-4-2 so far. Oilers were humiliated 6-0 in Nashville on Friday night, and haven’t scored a goal in their last eight periods of play. They’ll look to SHOCK and AWE in Chicago today with a line shakeup. Chicago is coming off their first regulation loss of the season on Saturday to Colorado. At 21-1-3, they’ll likely need about five more wins in their next 23 games to make the second season. No pressure. Oilers are 2-6-2 in their last ten, the Hawks are 9-1-0
- LINE CHANGE – While not yet official, Bob Stauffer seems to think this is what the Oilers are going to go with today. I like most of what’s happening here. Komrade Horcov and Ales Hemsky back in the mix, Paajarvi scheduled to pull decent minutes, and Teemu Hartikainen are all ready to roll. So go make merry.
- Devan Dubnyk (6-9-4, 2.85 /.916) is scheduled to get the start for the Oilers today. I don’t give a damn about him allowing a bad goal to the Predators. It was a crappy goal, no doubt. This team hasn’t scored a goal in the last eight periods, your argument is invalid. Look for the Blackhawks to go with Corey Crawford (11-1-3, 1.81 /.930) at the other end.
- For the Blackhawks, Patrick Sharp is out with a shoulder injury. That leaves only about seven or eight forwards to worry about at any given moment. Like Jonathan Toews, for instance. Toews is second on the Blackhawks in scoring with 22 points (11-11-22) in 25 games. There’s also Patrick Kane who warrants some concern, along with everybody else on the top nine.
Go out and score some goals today. Eight goals. Shake it up.
