  • This is the fifth of nine games on the current road trip.  Oilers are 1-2-1 through the first four, the latest being a 4-2 drubbing in Minnesota.  You may remember this game from the zero shots that were accumulated in the second period.  Columbus is coming off a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday.  Oilers are 4-5-1 in their last ten, Jackets are 3-5-2.

  • That fourth line.  Hoooooly cow.  If you asked Ryan Smyth to clean toilets at Rexall, I bet you he’d do it without hesitation.   So there he is, the 4C between Ben Eager and newly acquired Mike Brown, who is probably going to fight Derek Dorsett tonight.  That’s just a hunch.  I seem to recall Smyth not having the best of times playing centre earlier this year.  Let’s see how that all plays out tonight.  Magnus Paajarvi gets another top six fix with Sam Gagner and Jordan Eberle.  Corey Potter draws in for a sick Theo Peckham.
  • Mark Letestu, Vaclav Prospal and Fedor Tyutin share a three-way tie for points lead in Columbus.  I’m not showing pictures of all three.  Tyutin got the header today.
  • Devan Dubnyk (6-7-3, 2.87, .917) stopped 39 of 40 shots when these teams met last time.  He’ll go for the Oilers tonight.  Steve Mason will get the nod for Columbus.
