On top of losing another home game, this happens.
The Oilers were down 3-1 late in the third period when this happened.
The puck got tangled in Cal Clutterbuck’s skates when Taylor Hall met him near centre ice. Hall unloaded a hit that set Clutterbuck to the ice immediately.
From this vantage point, it’s at least some knee. There was some hip, but there’s a lot of knee to go with it. Couple it with the fact that it’s a full second since Clutterbuck had touched the puck, and this doesn’t look good for Taylor Hall.
Hall received a five minute major for kneeing and a game misconduct. Cal Clutterbuck was helped from the ice and put on a stretcher upon reaching the tunnel.
Expect a disciplinary hearing in the not-too-distant future. Hall doesn’t have a supplemental discipline history, but I can’t imagine Brendan Shanahan letting this go on a fine.
If I had to guess, I’d say a few games are coming Taylor Hall’s way.
