Oil On Whyte's Weekend Link Extravaganza

Five of the finest articles that caught my fancy.  Fancy catchers.

Oil Acument : Are The Oilers Better?  Are they better this year over last year?  Well, yes.  I mean, I think they are.  No?  They’ve got to be.  Yes.  Final answer yes.  That’s the right answer, right?

Lowetide : Which Dubie You Be? – Devan Dubnyk has played like a number one goaltender every minute this season save for one period against the San Jose Sharks last week.  Is it safe to call him the permanent number one?

Cult Of Hockey (Jonathan Willis) – Respect: the most overused and abused term in NHL Hockey today – No emotion after goals, and certainly no low-fiving your goaltender after the game is over.  I’m all about preserving tradition in today’s game, but stop trying to legislate behaviour.  Let the players play.

MC79 : Backchecking Hard Is For Suckers – Can backchecking create scoring chances for the opposition?  That’s ridiculous, right?  A look at the Sam Gagner goal from Thursday might change your mind.

Tend The Farm- Barons Wallop Charlotte 7-3, Winning Is Fun - Neal breaks down Oklahoma City’s 7-3 romp against the Charlotte Checkers, a game where Jonathan Cheechoo had five points (1G-4A) for the Barons.

There’s a matinee matchup between the Oilers and the Avalanche today.  Catch the game preview here in a bit.
