- Sharks come in to Rexall Place after taking down the Flames 4-1 on Sunday. Patrick Marleau finished with a pair of goals, and is tied with Logan Couture and Joe Thornton for team lead with 2 points a piece.
- Edmonton was also victorious in their season opener, defeating Vancouver 3-2 in a shootout. Ales Hemsky and Jordan Eberle lead the team with a goal a piece.
- Ben Eager was kept out of practice on Monday after absorbing a couple of shots in a fight versus Vancouver’s Zack Kassian. Coach Krueger gave Eager the day off on Monday as his face swelled up. In place of Eager, Magnus Paajarvi is getting a go tonight. Paajarvi’s last time in the Oilers lineup was February 25th, 2012 against Phoenix.
- Antti Niemi was between the pipes for the Sharks in their 4-1 victory in Calgary. Both he and Devan Dubnyk will look for their second wins of the season.
- Edmonton will have to keep out of the box. Six times they were down a man against the Canucks. Luckily, they were 6/6 on the penalty kill. Don’t know how many times the team will be able to knock off six penalties. Let’s shoot for about half that number.
