This is the most excited I’ve been this hockey season. Granted, there’s an NHL lockout going on, and we’re watching the OKC Barons as our primary source of professional hockey, and it’s kinda cold out today, but with all that comes good news.
Taylor Hall has been cleared to play hockey again.
Come on back with me to the depths of last season when Taylor Hall’s shoulder was in all sorts of trouble. The team finally shut him down in March (about two months too late) for a good old-fashioned labral repair. The recovery was to take about six months.
Before I knew there was going to be a good old-fashioned lockout, I moaned aloud that they should’ve shut him down in January so that he’d have more time to heal. Silly me, thinking that we’d have a season to start in October.
One of the nice things about having a lockout (cough) is that Taylor Hall got a considerable amount of additional time to heal. Suspicious Me thinks that Taylor Hall would’ve been rushed back into the lineup to start the NHL season if we had one. If we take everything into consideration with training camp and preseason, Hall got an additional six weeks to let his shoulder heal.

Don’t care what number you’re wearing. Excited I’ll be able to see the Oilers’ best player playing hockey somewhere.
