Days before the AHL season is set to get under way, the OKC Barons have named Josh Green captain of the 2012-13 squad.
A veteran of eight NHL teams (twice the NY Rangers and twice Edmonton), centre Josh Green spent the majority of the 2011-12 season in OKC, scoring 37 points (16G-21A) in 51 games. He did have a 7 game stint for the Oilers at the beginning of the 2012 calendar year. An elder statesman of the Barons, Green will turn 35 in November.
Jordan Eberle and Chris VandeVelde will wear the alternate “A” at home, while Alex Plante and Dane Byers will sport the “A” on the road.
The AHL season kicks off for the OKC Barons this Friday in Cleveland, as the Barons take on the Lake Erie Monsters on back-to-back nights. The Barons will return to OKC for their home opener on the 19th against the San Antonio Rampage, the first of a seven game home stand.
