OKC Barons Training Camp Opens Today

TODAY is the first day of training camp for the Oklahoma City Barons. Festivities begin at 10 AM (central) at the Cox Convention Center in OKC.

  • Group A will skate from 10-11 AM
  • Goaltenders will skate from 11-1130 AM
  • Group B will skate from 1145 AM-1245 PM

As stated previously, if you’re in or around the Oklahoma City area, these sessions are completely free and open to the public.  There will be on-ice sessions each day from today until the 9th of October (with the exception of October 7th).  So, go check ‘em out if you’re so inclined.

Players on an entry-level deal who normally wouldn’t be in the AHL will be there likely for the duration of the NHL lockout.  Oklahoma City will get their first chance to see players like Jordan Eberle and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins up close and personal.  Mix them in with guys like Magnus Paajarvi, Teemu Hartikainen and Anton Lander, all who spent time between Edmonton and Oklahoma City in 2011-12.  Throw in some vets like Josh Green and goaltender Yann Danis, and you’ll have a pretty unique set of players.
