NHLPA’s Mathieu Schneider calls these bargaining sessions “baby steps”. No immediate plans to discuss big $$$ issues.

No rush, guys.
TODAY begins what could very well be the last push to get the season started on time. Neither side has slammed the door on each other so I guess that’s a good start.
But it’s time for the baby steps to go away. While the owners have the players by the short and curlies, both sides are going to have to make some concessions if this season is going to get started on October 13th. What’s being discussed in there?
NHLPA rep Mathieu Schneider said topics discussed were “health and safety issues, drug testing, training staffs, things like that.”

Oh. Right. So can we discuss the money thing tomorrow? Thanks.
IN OTHER NEWS
Most players have a contingency plan if the NHL doesn’t get started on time. If it’s not the KHL, maybe it’s the SEL. Maybe it’s another league with a three letter abbreviation.
Current Montreal Canadiens forward Scott Gomez has signed a tryout deal with the ECHL’s Alaska Aces. Hey, we all have to keep busy. I’m this close to watching soccer.
