Yakupov will wear 64 this Oil year says agent Igor Larionov. “Six and four? Ten, right?” said Igor. Nail was 10 in jr. but Horcoff has it

64 it is, then.
Shortly after I learned of this, the Twitter reaction was somewhat mixed.

Had you given me a dozen choices, I didn’t think Nail Yakupov would’ve pulled the Dennis Rodman routine in adding two numbers up to equal an old number. The number 64 doesn’t have a rich history on the Oilers (or the NHL for that matter).
The number 64 has been worn by only two other Oilers in forty years – Jason Bonsignore and Milan Kytnar.
Only fifteen players have worn the number 64 in the NHL’s history. If you’re so inclined, you can click here to learn them all. It’s a toss up as to who’s the most famous of the bunch, be it Nikita Nikitin of the Blues, or Jamie McGinn of the Sharks.
Put a few pucks in the net, and the #64 sweater will be just as popular as the 14, 93 and 4 models as well.
