Oilers Sign Kristians Pelss To Entry Level Contract

Edmonton has signed prospect Kristians Pelss to a three year entry-level deal.

Currently a member of a dominant Oil Kings team, the 19 year-old winger from Latvia put up 50 points (28-22-50) in 63 games (along with 95 penalty minutes) in his final year of Juniors.  Listed at 5’11” and 187, Pelss is a blazing winger who was a late round pick for the Oilers in 2010.  He’s also the 49th contract out of a maximum 50 on the team.

Check out the first goal.

I’m not so much impressed with the first goal, I’m excited about the speed.  He covered half the rink in about 1.2 seconds coming out of his zone.

Pelss currently has seven points (4-3-7) in ten Oil Kings playoff games.  If you haven’t gotten a good look at Kristians Pelss yet, get down to Rexall Place on Thursday or Friday for the first two games of the WHL Championship Series as the Oil Kings take on the Portland Winterhawks.
