GAME DAY: Anaheim @ Edmonton

Anaheim Ducks @ Edmonton Oilers

05 APR 2012 – 7:30 MDT

Game Preview follows the jump.

    • Welcome to the final home game of the season, you’ve made it this far.  Tonight may also might be the last time you get to see Teemu Selanne play in the NHL in person.  Oilers are 5-3-2 over their last ten games, Anaheim is 4-5-1.
    • Jeff Petry is slated to make a triumphant return to the ring ice tonight.  Petry has been out of the lineup since the 20th of March after taking a puck to the face.  Bryan Rodney is returned to the AHL.

    • Oilers employee and overall nice guy Tom Gazzola reports that there was no morning skate for the Oilers today.  So with that information in tow, I predict that Devan Dubnyk will start tonight.  No, he didn’t win last time out, but he did stop 35 shots.  Add that to the 32 he stopped the night previous against these very same Ducks, and Dubnyk has turned aside 67 shots out of 70 over the past two games.  If Khabibulin starts, then that’s that.  If this club was one point out of the eighth spot, I’d show an emotion.
    • Finally (and not related to tonight’s game), is this the second faux pas in a week regarding a player’s contract?  Scroll down to the second paragraph about 2010 Oiler prospect Kristians Pelss.  “No comment”?  Really?
