Ever since that fateful night back on May23, 2006, game three in the series that saw the Edmonton Oilers vs. the Anaheim Ducks on home ice in Edmonton…where the anthem singer Paul Lorieau let the home crowd sing the anthem, I have always wanted to meet Mr. Lorieau. I was in the rink that night and was truly elated after the anthem was finished. There are many ways you could describe the feeling at that moment…exciting, inspired, awe-struck, unbelievable, and so on and so on. But one thing is for sure, I will never forget that moment. It was one of the most special things I have been a part of at Rexall Place. And one of the most talked about moments in that pay-off run of 2006. Please see the video after the jump.
Please rise and remove your hats…Ladies & Gentleman, Mr. Paul Lorieau, and you the great Fans of the Oilers…
I have been fortunate enough to secure an interview with Mr. Lorieau early next week and I will be posting that interview here on Oilonwhyte.com I will be sitting down with Paul and asking some questions about his career as the Anthem singer for the Edmonton Oilers for over 30 years, his start in music, and what life is like for him in retirement. I hope you enjoy this as much as I will!
