TRADE DEADLINE WAGERS AND SAM GAGNER: GOOD TIMES!

Jason Gregor from the Team1260 Radio Station and I have entered into a Twitter fueled wager. Jason contends that Ales Hemsky will garner a first round pick at the trade deadline, while I contend that Hemsky is no longer worth such a gross over-payment. On the line is some advertising for this blog on Gregor’s site if I win, and if I lose…I will contribute to Gregor’s charity of choice which is his MS Bike Tour. Now you might be saying to yourself, man you suck not having you “winnings” be for charity too! But I will pledge for Gregor either way win or lose, so this should be sufficient. I challenge all of my readers to go and help Gregor raise money for this worthy cause!

Now to Sam Gagner… I never thought that I would personally witness a Wayne Gretzky record get broken by a player on a 29th place team and least of all by Sam Gagner. But here we are. Gagner broke an Oilers club record for most points in consecutive goals with the 11 he has in the last two games he’s played.

After tying the club record for most points in a game that was held by Wayne Gretzky & Paul Coffey on Thursday night against the Chicago Blackhawks, Gagner came out on Saturday against the Redwings and got another three points in a 5-4 shoot-out victory. Sam also scored in that shoot-out to help get the win.

For these amazing achievements, Gagner was named First Star of the past week in the NHL. It’s nice to see that Gagner is getting the recognition all over the league that he deserves for this stunning performance. I also that Paul Coffey met with Sam today at the rink in Toronto while at the ACC for the morning skate. Undoubtedly Coffey was congratulating him.

The Oilers play The Leafs tonight, and if I was going to make a prediction I would say that the Oilers are going to win this game 3-1. Gagner with two more points. Jaromir Jagr holds the NHL record for 15 points in 15 consecutive goals. This should be a cake-walk for Gags!!
